Taylor graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Superior with a degree in Digital Cinema and a minor in biology. She grew up an only child in Knife River, MN with her mom, two German shepherds and 3 cats. She loved to throw parties for her friends and swim in Lake Superior and go moose hunting with her dad. When he died by suicide, she was just 12 years old. Her whole life changed in the blink of an eye. Growing up mostly alone in rural Northern Minnesota with satellite internet was limiting and lonesome but she always found peace in taking photos with disposable cameras she bought and developed at Walgreens. Next was her mom's JVC point and shoot. She never got rid of her dad's black & white video tape camera. Her first Sony DSLR was in high school. Ignoring invitations to the photo club, she instead dreamed of being a writer or a journalist. During her first few years of college at St. Cloud State she wrote several opinion pieces for the school newspaper while pursuing creative writing. She read a book about a man living with wolves and quickly changed her major, deciding she wanted to do whatever it took to find work that benefited nature. While going to school she worked in retail and at animal shelters. She finished her education in film then wrote and directed three short films and two documentaries, one on the International Wolf Center in Ely, MN. After graduating she found a job as a photojournalist at WDIO-TV in Duluth but soon moved south to Minneapolis where she left broadcasting and started her own film production company. She successfully crowdfunded, directed, produced, and shot her first feature film Bittersweet until production had to be put on hold indefinitely due to COVID lockdown. After assisting on two Z-Fest films as a gaffer, cinematographer, and editor, Taylor spent a lot of time reanalyzing her relationship to art, love, and authenticity. During a contract with Bloomington Public Schools she produced and directed several videos including a monthly episodic for the community relations department. Her documentary on youth substance use and the district's plan to address student chemical health received national recognition at NSPRA. Her work won the department two excellence in digital media production awards in one year. Now Taylor can be found at a lake during sunrise or sunset with her camera, hosting photography meetups, walking her dog, journaling at the coffee shop, recording photography tutorials, gazing at art, healing her heart and mind, making her own prints and hanging them on her walls, living with intention and sharing her curiosity with anyone who will listen. In the future she hopes to help foster a safe community of artists to share ideas, support, and build off each other. She is continually inspired by her friends, music, and her dog, Elsie. Most recently she is compiling her photos into a visual poetry book.
She resides in Minneapolis with her family.
